Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys
Remember folks, if you’re a high school student, you can place your name on an opt-out list at your school. If you’re a parent, you can put your kids’ names on the list.
What is the opt-out list? It’s the list that keeps you (or your kids) safer from military recruiters. Because of provisions in No Child Left Behind, military recruiters have complete access to all kinds of school records — race, gender, GPA — unless they are specifically prohibited from contacting individual students.
In this time of war and uncertainty, the military is a worse option than ever. Aside from their time-tested lying and cheating to potential enlistees, new reports of internal military violence — among enlistees and in recruitment — are coming to light every day (see what the Associated Press has to say about it here)
